Project Management
Beyond the standard steps, our project management includes the following:
- A major investment in project setup: reference materials, tools, selection of personnel, analysis of the application, and preparation of the software for ease of translation and ease of review by client verifiers
- A detailed project schedule is prepared according to the client's requirements
- A project manager and an application specialist are assigned
- All key terminology is verified early in the project to avoid later costly language corrections. This covers glossaries and all major terms which must be used consistently across all elements of the job: commands, menu items, dialog box terms, icons, and help index terms
- Our schedules call for completing as many parallel tasks as possible. We work on all languages and sections of a project within a language simultaneously.
- The review process of editing and client verification occur upon completion of each section. Individual files or chapters are processed through review and final formatting (desktop publishing) while other sections are still in the translation phase.
- In addition to interim review/verification, a final consistency check is made across all elements of the project
- Clients are kept up-to-date via normal communications and the web-based Localize Project Manager
- Deadlines are sacred
- Managing quality into the process
-
In addition to specific steps taken in our Project Management Process, we manage quality into our projects and deliverables in the following way:
- Educated in our definition of product quality, all members of our organization are compensated based on conformance to the definition's requirements
- We select the best people for the job: in-country specialists, Project Managers, and highly experienced software developers
- Our translators are supplied with a complete range of reference materials including glossaries for the foreign language GUI/OS and foreign language versions of similar applications
- The same translator(s) and production team are used on the entire project and on subsequent projects for the same client
- As described in the linguistic and technical sections, we put significant effort into developing and employing automated quality control mechanisms
- Because we are official Apple, Microsoft, and UNIX developers and are active in the Silicon Valley community, we readily employ the most up-to-date tools and procedures for these applications
- We replicate your environment and tools...down to the identical versions used. This is more efficient and eliminates several layers of trouble-shooting if problems are encountered.
- Our use of advanced tools and procedures allows our translators to focus on context rather than code
- We manage to your objectives via periodic project reviews, thorough management involvement, post-project reviews, and continual attention to detail
- Our constant goal is to be the best in the world
